The inception of BlackRock’s foray into the realm of Bitcoin has ushered in a remarkable development – their spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF), aptly christened IBTC, has now found a place within the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). This alludes to the now highly likely possibility of securing the approval by the SEC (United States Securities and Exchange Commission). Notably, this milestone follows a strategic pivot made by BlackRock on October 18th, where they revised their initial Bitcoin ETF proposal.
It’s imperative to highlight the inclusion of a CUSIP, a unique identifier for North American securities, within the amended filing. Furthermore, the filing discreetly hinted at the acquisition of a seed creation basket. This intriguing development implies that Blackrock is BUYING Bitcoin.

BlackRock’s strategic manoeuvres are part of a more significant trend that is sweeping the investment landscape. Notably, esteemed entities such as Ark Invest and 21Shares have recently made substantial revisions to their Bitcoin ETF applications. Ark Invest’s alterations, undertaken in the wake of discussions with the SEC, signify ongoing dialogues on the regulatory front. Meanwhile, Grayscale is forging ahead, making strides by registering shares of its existing Bitcoin Trust under the Securities Act of 1933, with the ultimate objective of its transformation into an ETF.

Esteemed analysts and legal experts keenly observe these significant developments as promising indicators that the approval of Bitcoin ETFs may be imminent. In this context, BlackRock’s strategic moves are seen as particularly Bullish. This optimism materializes against the backdrop of legal progressions, such as the recent pronouncement by the DC Circuit Court, which critically censured the SEC’s rejection of Grayscale’s ETF conversion as “arbitrary and capricious.”
At the time of writing, the news has sent the Bitcoin price soaring to $35,000+ on some exchanges. Prices that haven’t been seen since May 2022.
