When Nothing Goes Your Way

Working in Web3 feels a lot like riding a roller coaster – it’s exciting but comes with its share of ups and downs. If you’re looking for a smooth, steady job, this isn’t it. Trust me, there are days when it feels like everything’s against you.

I jumped from a super stable job to the chaos of Web3 at the worst possible time, right as the market was crashing. I’d been in Marketing for ages but never in tech. I was so thrilled to get started, and finally, I got a break with a consulting job that was supposed to turn into a full-time role. The first few months were awesome, but then the market tanked, and suddenly, there was no budget to keep me on. Talk about a reality check.

Then came job number two in Web3, which I totally loved, until – bam – laid off with the rest of my team. It hit me hard, and I started eyeing other industries. But nothing else felt right. Web3 was where I wanted to be, and I stuck it out.

From these experiences, I’ve learned some insights. Firstly, brace yourself for the unpredictable nature of Web3. The field is dynamic, and adaptability is key. When you face obstacles – and you will – use them as opportunities to learn and grow. Keep your ultimate goals in mind; they’ll help you navigate through challenging times. Most importantly, let your passion guide you. If you’re truly passionate about Web3, that enthusiasm will be your anchor through the storms.

The journey through Web3 is not straightforward. It demands passion, resilience, and a clear focus on long-term objectives. Sure, it’s challenging, but if you’re committed to the course, the rewards—both professional and personal—will be substantial. And if you feel like it’s not worth your time and effort, that’s okay too. You don’t have to stick to something that doesn’t excite you.
