Blockleaders is delighted to welcome journalist and storyteller Favour Amoye, who will be contributing articles to the publication from time to time.
Amoye began his writing career six years ago as a poet before moving into journalism. Since then, his curiosity has taken him across a remarkably broad range of subjects, including sport, culture, travel, Indigenous communities, the environment, crypto and emerging technology.
A keen sports writer, Amoye has covered NBA fantasy basketball and also writes scripts about the NFL. His talent for finding the story behind a subject has brought considerable success in video too, with one of his YouTube scripts attracting around 10 million views and another passing the one million mark.
Yet numbers are only part of the picture. What makes Amoye such a natural fit for Blockleaders is his interest in the stories that are easily missed and the people behind the technology. He is not interested in producing another version of the standard crypto article. He wants to find the unusual angle, ask the bigger questions and write pieces that stay with the reader.
“I really like telling stories that a lot of people do not pay attention to,” says Amoye. “There are many standard articles about crypto, but I want to write something that genuinely captivates people. Blockleaders focuses on the technology, but it also looks at the people using it, the bigger questions around what they are building and what it could look like in the years to come.”
That approach is closely aligned with the ethos of Blockleaders, which was founded in 2018 to tell the stories of the people building Web3 rather than simply reporting on markets, prices and technology.
“It is great to get more writers on board at Blockleaders, particularly someone with Favour’s range and genuine curiosity,” says Jillian Godsil, co-founder and editor of Blockleaders. “He can move comfortably between journalism, sport, culture and technology, but what really stands out is his interest in people and in the stories that are not always being told. I am very much looking forward to seeing what he brings to the publication.”
Amoye describes himself as a writer who does not like to be boxed into one category. From poetry to long-form journalism, sports coverage, crypto writing and viral video scripts, his work reflects an ability to adapt without losing sight of the human story.
We are delighted to welcome him to Blockleaders.
