Magnific has launched its Model Context Protocol integration with ChatGPT, allowing creative teams to move from developing an idea to producing images, video and other assets without leaving the conversation.
The integration, announced this week, brings Magnific’s creative production tools directly into ChatGPT through MCP, the open standard that allows AI applications to connect with external tools and services.
For creative teams, the significance is less about generating another AI image and more about what happens after that first image has been created.
Omar Pera, CPO of Magnific, said: “Generating an image was never the hard part. The hard part is everything after it: keeping the product recognisable, the character consistent, the same idea alive across five formats and a video. That’s the work MCP brings into the conversation.”
A campaign might begin in ChatGPT with a discussion about a new product, its audience, messaging and visual direction. By the time the team has agreed on an approach, ChatGPT already has much of the context behind the project. Traditionally, however, producing the actual assets means moving into another platform and rebuilding at least some of that context.
Magnific MCP is designed to remove that break in the process.
Once connected, users can call Magnific from within ChatGPT to generate an image, work with reference material, change its composition, upscale it, create versions for different formats and turn an approved image into video. The conversation retains the original brief, references and feedback as the work develops.
The integration also gives users access to a wider range of image, video and audio models through Magnific, while its production tools provide additional control over references, characters, aspect ratios and editing.
This becomes particularly useful where consistency matters. A product needs to remain recognisable across an advertising campaign, for example, while a character may need to look the same across several scenes. An approved image may then need to appear in square, vertical and widescreen formats before becoming the basis of a short video.
Rather than treating each of those tasks as a separate generation, Magnific is positioning them as parts of the same creative process.
Pera adds, “Creating an image was never the hard part. The hard part is everything after it: keeping the product recognisable, the character consistent, the same idea alive across five formats and a video. That’s the work MCP brings into the conversation.”
Its Spaces feature allows teams to see the source images, prompts, references, models and transformations used within a project. Different members of a creative team can then work on different parts of that process, with designers refining individual elements and creative directors reviewing and approving outputs.
Magnific Flows takes the idea a step further by allowing a successful process to be saved and reused.
A team producing regular product launches, for example, could create a Flow that takes a product image, visual reference, campaign message and required markets as inputs. The workflow could then generate the main campaign image, create versions for different channels, produce a video and organise the finished assets.
The next campaign can use the same process with new inputs rather than rebuilding the workflow from scratch.
The MCP integration is also not limited to ChatGPT. Magnific currently supports AI environments including Claude, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Gemini and Hermes, giving creative teams the option of accessing the same production tools from the environment in which they are already working.
Magnific says its MCP currently provides access to models including Nano Banana 2, Seedream 5, Google Imagen 4, Recraft V4, Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0 Omni and Google Veo 3.1, among others, with the catalogue updated regularly.
Users can either specify the model they want or allow Magnific to select one automatically according to the task.
The distinction between MCP and a traditional API is also important. An API is primarily aimed at developers who want to build Magnific directly into their own products and pipelines. MCP allows an AI assistant to use Magnific on behalf of the user through ordinary natural-language instructions, without requiring the user to write code.
Users can also search their previous Magnific creations and access their existing projects and workflows from the conversation. Assets created through the integration remain connected to the user’s Magnific account rather than disappearing into an isolated ChatGPT session.
The development points towards a wider change in how generative AI tools are being used. The first wave of AI creativity was largely centred on individual outputs: write a prompt and generate an image, piece of text or video. MCP allows different tools to become part of a connected workflow, with the AI assistant increasingly acting as the interface between them.
For creative teams, that could make the conversation itself the starting point for production. The brief, discussion and decisions remain in ChatGPT, while specialist platforms such as Magnific provide the tools needed to turn those decisions into finished work.
Magnific MCP is available on the company’s paid plans and can now be connected through ChatGPT Apps.
