Gibraltar Signals Growth: Crypto and Web3 Take Centre Stage in London

On March 11, 2025, House of Block and the Gibraltar Funds Investment Association (GFIA) co-hosted an exclusive evening bringing together some of the most influential voices in crypto and Web3. Investors, innovators, and industry leaders packed the room, exchanging insights on the latest developments and opportunities in the sector. The atmosphere was electric, a reflection of the momentum driving digital finance forward.

At the heart of the evening was a keynote from Hon. Nigel Feetham KC, Minister for Justice, Trade, and Industry. Addressing the audience, he reaffirmed Gibraltar’s commitment to supporting blockchain innovation. “Gibraltar remains a jurisdiction that is open for business,” he stated, emphasizing its progressive stance on digital finance and regulation. With its well-established regulatory framework, the jurisdiction continues to attract companies seeking clarity and stability in an otherwise turbulent global market.

Regulation, investment trends, and the shifting landscape of Web3 dominated the night’s discussions. A standout moment came during the interactive Q&A session, where Minister Feetham took the stage alongside Korby Hayre (House of Block), Robby Yung (Animoca Brands), and Kaushik Sthankiya (Kraken Digital Asset Exchange). Ben Appleby of AlphaPlay cut straight to the point: “What is Gibraltar doing to attract and onboard innovative UK businesses?”

“The room was filled with inspiring individuals, and the opportunities were vast,” said Ben Appleby, CEO of AlphaPlay. “I connected with crypto-friendly banks, met entrepreneurs at similar stages of business, and explored potential offshore investments. It was great for both personal and business growth.”

The discussion that followed was as practical as it was forward-looking. The Minister outlined Gibraltar’s ongoing efforts to refine regulatory clarity, streamline compliance, and create an environment where Web3 companies can thrive. Industry leaders engaged directly, offering insights on how regulators can work more closely with businesses to shape the next phase of blockchain regulation.

“Korby and the House of Block team organised another fantastic event. We all learnt more about the Gibraltar jurisdiction and its support for the Blockchain industry. Thanks to the GFIA for sponsoring,” said Rob Gaskell, Partner and Founder at Appold.

As the evening continued, fine dining fuelled further conversations, with new partnerships forming and fresh ideas taking shape. The excitement in the room underscored the growing institutional interest in blockchain-based solutions, a clear signal that digital finance is no longer a niche sector but a fundamental pillar of the future economy.

“Korby has a great skill of managing to gather a diverse range of knowledgeable people together, making it an informative yet convivial evening. Thank you,” said Jonny Fry, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at ClearBank.

House of Block and GFIA remain at the forefront of these conversations, building bridges between traditional finance and the emerging digital economy. With the success of this event, anticipation is already mounting for their next gathering, set for June 12, 2025, in London.

“The House of Block event was an incredible evening, offering not only excellent networking opportunities but also an engaging and enjoyable atmosphere. It was a fantastic chance to connect with like-minded individuals and dive deeper into the ever-evolving world of crypto. I’m already looking forward to the next one!” said Jay Boisvert, CEO of Wunder.
