Founded back in 2015 by the dynamic duo of Jake Brukhman and Alex Felix, CoinFund stands tall as one of the pioneering cryptonative investment firms on the global stage. Evolving into a registered investment adviser with a top-tier interdisciplinary team of nearly 30 brilliant minds, CoinFund has left its indelible mark across the vast expanse of web3. Its portfolio boasts over 100 investments, carefully spread across six investment vehicles, encompassing a wide spectrum of web3 facets like artificial intelligence, protocols, gaming, and the ever-so-trendy NFTs.
Recently, the firm made waves by announcing the triumphant close of their Seed IV Fund, amassing a staggering $158 million in July 2023. This was preceded by an earlier $320 million early-stage web3 venture fund, CoinFund Ventures I, which they proudly unveiled in August 2022.
What sets CoinFund apart is not just its successful financial achievements but also the formidable investment team at the helm, skilfully navigating this sea of opportunities. The Managing Partners, Jake Brukhman, and Alex Felix, lead the charge in distinct focus areas—decentralization technologies, infrastructure, AI x web3, marketplaces, financial services, and cross-vertical liquid investing. Joining this powerhouse are David Pakman, an expert in NFTs, consumer trends, and infrastructure; and Chris Perkins, delving deep into financial convergence, tokenization, and CeFi.
The Investment team includes Vangelis Andrikopolous, Austin Barack, Einar Braathen, Evan Feng, Christian Murray, Rishin Sharma, and Isaiah Washington—all possessing an array of expertise ranging from ZK/ML/AI to DeFi, from Layer 2s to consumer services, gaming, NFTs, and DAOs.
As CoinFund continues to redefine the boundaries of the web3 landscape, their prowess remains an undeniable force shaping the future of this rapidly expanding digital realm.
Speaking on his appointment, Vahali said: “I am excited to be joining CoinFund at this critical time. As the industry continues to mature, it is clear that the best investors are leveraging seasoned professionals to apply their knowledge from other industries to provide effective advice in a creative way to crypto and web3. CoinFund’s history and reputation exhibits the successful integration of significant and meaningful experience within a cryptonative ethos and community. I look forward to supporting our investment strategy working closely with Stewart, David, Jake, Alex and the rest of the investment team, and lending my expertise to support CoinFund’s mission to champion the leaders of the new internet.”
