Blockchain.com Secures $110 Million Funding Round

Blockchain.com, a prominent player in the blockchain industry, has successfully concluded a significant milestone with the closure of a $110-million Series E financing round. The investment not only marks a substantial financial injection but also represents a noteworthy shift in the company’s valuation.

Led by the United Kingdom-based venture capital firm Kingsway Capital, the Series E round garnered support from influential participants, including Baillie Gifford, Lakestar, and Coinbase Ventures, among others.

This substantial funding is expected to fuel Blockchain.com’s strategic initiatives and further solidify its position in the ever-evolving blockchain landscape.

Sources familiar with the matter, as reported by Bloomberg on November 14, revealed that the $110-million round has recalibrated Blockchain.com’s valuation, now standing at less than half of its remarkable $14 billion valuation in March 2022.

The adjustment in valuation comes in the aftermath of the collapse of Do Kwon’s Terra ecosystem, which triggered a liquidity cascade, leading to the bankruptcy of hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC) and several high-profile crypto lenders.

Notably, Blockchain.com’s ascent to a $14 billion valuation in March 2022 was marked by a funding round that attracted support from Lightspeed Ventures and Baillie Gifford. The latter is renowned for its early involvement in growth stocks, including industry giant Tesla.

This recent financing round signifies the continued dynamism within the blockchain industry, with major investors recognizing the potential and resilience of Blockchain.com amid the sector’s evolving challenges.

he injection of $110 million is poised to empower Blockchain.com in navigating the complexities of the blockchain landscape and fostering innovation in the digital asset space.
