Bitcoin’s Surge to $50K Met with Lukewarm Reception

In a shocking turn of events, Bitcoin has surged past the $50,000 mark, hovering around 52K at the time of me pressing the buttons on the laptop. The expected celebrations seem to be missing though.

No one is yelling from rooftops, cars aren’t honking in excitement, and, disappointingly, the ponies aren’t doing their usual routine of blasting rainbows out of their bumholes. Or did they galop away from the cameras when the picture above was taken?

One thing is clear though, the world is not as thrilled about Bitcoin hitting the big 5-0 as one would imagine.

Maybe the cheerleaders are hungover after the Super Bowl, and the raging 49ers threw all the pom-poms into the bin? Or maybe we are maturing as investors, and our blood pressure is not the same as it was even a few years ago, so we are not taking all the info so close to the heart.

Well, if there’s no 50K+ party, let’s at least talk about it like a bunch of good citizens in a retirement home. We’ll take meds, make some warm herbal tea, and wrap ourselves in sweaters to appease our creaky bones. It’s gonna be moderately fun!

And yeah, I have predicted for this to happen. Like and subscribe.

Cautiously Optimistic Primate Considers Smiling, Decides to Wait and See

Did you know that baboons are grinning to avoid perforating their lips while eating a succulent cactus?

Same with us investors, fear and unease also pull at the corners of our mouths, giving us ‘The Expression’. You can’t stop it, it is neurological. And I’m fully aware the image above doesn’t have any baboons in it, merely a photogenic chimp. But I digress!

Despite Bitcoin approaching new two-year highs, traders are cautiously optimistic, exercising the kind of caution usually reserved for deciding whether to buy a discount toaster on Black Friday or to fight an innocent bystander for that giga screen.

Like, there are people in the world that are debating whether to knock on wood or cross fingers for extra protection and lucky charms. When they enter an optimism group, they bring an emergency exit map. Because you can never be too careful.

Experts warn that we might need to retest support levels, because what’s a crypto surge without a bit of suspense, right?

This cautious optimism is attributed to institutional buying. Like, yay, the whales are getting fatter, crypto is becoming centralized, isn’t this what we all wanted? MicroStrategy, the company that apparently does nothing but buy Bitcoin, proudly announced it acquired an additional 850 BTC in January, bringing its total holdings to a staggering 190,000 BTC, valued at $8.1 billion.

But don’t be salty about these sums. We’re all winning! We’re all winning, right?

91% Of Bitcoin Addresses Are Currently Profitable – I Call BS!

What an absurd statistic.

First of all, these accounts are in profit only on paper. Secondly, determining profitability solely from public Bitcoin wallet data is inherently flawed. For instance, if you transfer 1 Bitcoin (hey, good for you) to a new address and the price rises by 1% the next day, that particular account may show a profit. This doesn’t account for potential losses on the OG account though. So it’s tricky like that.

And what if someone is one of those nine percenters? Are you going to rub salt into the open wounds anyway? The term ‘9 percenters’ actually sounds like it could be a thing. They tried to eat caviar with 1 percenters, but they didn’t get good enough marks in the economic disparity and wealth inequality classes.

But there’s always next year!

I don’t know who’s reading these posts, actually, maybe nobody does. But I can imagine that a working man who is on a break from ‘eating the rich’ and building communism with rolled up sleeves will get a kick out of this. And about the general population, I think they won’t start taking notice until we hit $70,000, or a number slightly below that. I fully expect Elon Musk’s interns to post a meme about it on X, crashing the price on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. I can see it already.

If I’m wrong, and you’re actually excited about passing the 50K milestone, let me know. Write a comment, follow me, send a pony picture to Blockleader’s staff – do something to stop this apathy.
